Klopp told to complete shock N’Golo Kante transfer from Chelsea
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been told to complete a staggering transfer deal for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, by former Red Jason McAteer.
Liverpool should try and sign N’Golo Kante from Chelsea, as he would provide the missing piece of “Jurgen Klopp’s jigsaw”.
The French World Cup winner could be deployed alongside Fabinho in the centre of midfield for Liverpool, in what would be a formidable duo.
Kante became the first Premier League player to win consecutive league titles with two different teams in 2012
He’s widely accepted to be one of the best players in the world in the defensive midfield ‘Makelele’ role, and McAteer has urged Klopp to sign Kante to make the complete team.
“The role of the holding midfielder has developed in modern times and Liverpool boast one of the best in the business in Fabinho,” he told the Racing Post.
“He took time to settle at Anfield but was taken out of the team and given time on the training ground, and has now slotted back in seamlessly.
“He just gets it, gives it and doesn’t do anything flamboyant, though it took him a while to learn the role.
“And that’s exactly what he’s doing. His awareness of danger is fantastic.
“He and N’Golo Kante at Chelsea are the two best players in the Premier League playing that role.
“Kante is definitely one of the final pieces in Jurgen Klopp’s jigsaw.”
But, the 28-year-old has had an injury-hit campaign so far this season, and has started just three league matches for Chelsea.
He’s featured just once in the Champions League for Frank Lampard, and Kante is currently on the sidelines with a groin injury.
He is close to a return, however, and the France international returned to training this week.
Meanwhile, Liverpool take on Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday (3pm), as they look to continue their unbeaten start to the campaign.
Title rivals Manchester City will be playing simultaneously, at home to Southampton.
