Klopp to approve Salah’s Liverpool departure to land £70m transfer target
Jurgen Klopp has his sights set on Lille winger Nicolas Pepe and will likely approve Salah’s exist in order to secure his services, Goal reports.
Nicolas Pepe caught the eye of different number of potential suitors from across Europe with his fascinating performances in Ligue 1 last season.
The Ivorian helped Lille finish 2nd in the final standings with a contribution of 22 goals and 11 assists in 38 appearances.
According to the Daily Star, Liverpool are in contact with the 24-year-old’s agent to negotiate a possible £70 million deal, as Klopp lines up his first signing of the summer.
Le 10 Sport reports that the German boss will go as far as ditching Egyptian sanction Mohammed Salah in order to land Pepe, who has seems a key target for the Reds.
Klopp’s relationship with Salah has reportedly declined in recent months – as per Le 10 Sport – and Real Madrid were linked with a swoop for the Egyptian’s services back in April.
The Independent has stated that the Spanish giants outfit are interested in signing Salah, following tension between the him and his manager at Liverpool.
Although Pepe will easily fit in at Anfield, it’s doubtful that supporters will be happy with the news of letting a talismanic asset leave after two hugely great seasons.
Mohammed Salah has ended up the Premier League’s Golden Boot winner twice in a row and played a key role in helping the Liverpool secure the Champions League trophy.
The 26-year-old is a vital member of Klopp’s starting XI and even if the two men have had some sort of disagreement, it is difficult to see Salah being ushered out the exit door.
Liverpool would be better off trying to strike a more reasonable price for Pepe, who hasn’t proved himself at the top level.
Even if a deal fails, there are still many alternatives to consider since transfer window still remains open
